Travel along Atlantic Seaboard via Sea Point, Clifton, Camps Bay & Llandudno to Hout Bay. Travel along N1 to Paarl and Seidelberg for wine tasting and where you can see the glassblowers creating magnificent pieces. This site also offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards. Just a short way down the road and you are at Fairwiew with their Goat Tower and where you will taste their wine & cheese. Proceed to the Afrikaans Taal Monument (language monument) From here travel along Main Road of Paarl with its many historical buildings and where you will find wine farms in the centre of town. Visit to the Taal Museum Travel via the historical town of Wellington to Linton Park for lunch and where (in season) wines can be tasted in the vineyards from where the grapes came. Pay a visit to Ouma Granny's House, a beautiful Victorian House with a unique and priceless collection of artifacts. Next stop will be Diemersfontein for wine tasting before heading back to Cape Town. |
CAPE WEST COAST DAY TRIPS |
Visit to West Coast Ostrich Farm and Mamre Mission Station Then to the Fossil Park where you can see an active Fossil dig (previously the estuary of the Berg River, now 12km from the sea.) You then travel to the quaint fishing village of Paternoster for lunch and a stroll on beach or a visit to Cape Columbine Lighthouse (last manned lighthouse built in SA). Then a leisurely drive back via Saldanha and Langebaan Lagoon (During the flower season this tour can be altered to include the West Coast National Park and/or Cape Columbine Nature Reserve. |  |  |

Travel via Malmesbury to Riebeek Kasteel for wine & olive tasting. From there travel via Hermon to Porterville where you will be met by a local guide. After morning coffee you will be taken on a tour of the town and wine tasting at the Porterville Cellars. You will then visit Waterval, a farm with 22 permanent waterfalls - 7 of which are easily accessible. During Jan & Feb when the disas are in bloom you will go in search of these magnificent flowers. DAY 1 Travel along N7 to Mooreesburg for a visit to the Wheat Museum (one of only 3 in the world). Proceed via Piekenierskloof Pass to Citrusdal for wine tasting at Goue Vallei Cellars and then a visit to Sandveldhuisie. From there travel to Clanwilliam where you will visit the Clanwilliam Living Landscape Project. Then book in at your accommodation before proceeding onto the farm Elandsberg for an Eco Tour and a tour of Rooibos tea industry. Enjoy dinner on the farm before returning to Clanwilliam for overnight stay. | Day 2 After an early start travel via Pakhuis Pass to Travellers Rest where you will walk the Seville Rock Art Trail. On your way back to Clanwilliam stop at the grave of C Louis Leipoldt. After brunch travel to Trawal to visit Stellar Organic Wines. From there onto Klawer where more wines of the Olifants River Wine Route can be tasted. |  |  |
Next stop is the town of Van Rhynsdorp where you will pay a visit to the Kokerboom Nursery which has a vast selection of the plants that can be seen in this semi-desert area. They also offer walks to let you see the plants in their natural habitat. Visit the museum where several artifacts relating to the South African War (Anglo-Boer) can be seen. Also visit the private Latsky Radio Museum. During the flower season (August to September) you will have the opportunity of visiting the Waterval near Van Rhynsdorp. Travel to Vredendal situated along Olifants River for overnight stay. |  |
Day 3 Visit Westcorp largest winery in South Africa. Travel onto Lutzville for wine tasting at second largest winery in SA. From there travel towards the coast and then onto Lamberts Bay (most of this road is on gravel and dependent on weather conditions) Travelling along the coast will give you the opportunity to see seals & whales. Also a good place to see the world renowned Namaqualand flowers during August and September. Overnight in Lamberts Bay |  |  |
Day 4 Visit to Bird Island home of approximately 30 000 birds and then to the Sandveld Museum which will give you an insight in the past of Lamberts Bay Optional boat based whale watching during the season (June to November) Visit to Steenboksfontein before travelling to Muisbosskerm for lunch (local food eaten on the beach). After lunch travel to Elands Bay for a visit to the Crayfish factory - no harbour, boats lowered into the sea by winch. |  |  |
Then onto to the cave with its rock art. From Elands Bay travel via Verlorenvlei home to numerous water-birds including large flocks of flamingoes. DAY 1 Visit West Coast Ostrich Farm before travelling to Mamre for a visit to the Mission Station. Proceed to West Coast Fossil Park, previously the estuary of the Berg River now 12 km from the sea. Travel to Langebaan Lagoon and a visit to Geelbek Environmental Centre where you will enjoy lunch. From there to Saldanha Bay and a boat trip (weather permitting). Then onto the fishing village of Paternoster for overnight stay. |  |  |
Day 2 After visiting the Cape Columbine Lighthouse (last manned lighthouse built) travel to Velddirf for a bird watching trip on the Bergrivier. Visit to the fish (bokkom) drying site - unofficial historical site. After lunch travel to Piketberg for a visit to this town. Then to a wine farm for wine tasting before proceeding to Porterville for overnight stay . |
Day 3 Meet with local guide for breakfast. Your guide will take you on a tour which will include historical sites, wine tasting at Poterville Wine Cellars and a visit Waterval with its 22 permanent waterfalls, 7 of which are easily accessible. During Jan & February you will also go in search of disas found naturally in this area. The area is also the habitat of blue cranes, our national bird. Porterville is popular with hang-gliders and paragliders. After enjoying lunch we travel to the Riebeek Valley for wine and olive tasting. Return via Malmesbury to Cape Town |

Proceed to Montagu for a late afternoon swim in the healing waters of the mineral springs. Overnight in Montagu. |
Day 2 Depart for Calitzdorp the Port Capital of SA where you will taste some of their products. Proceed to Oudtshoorn and Minwater where you will go on a 4 x 4 drive into the countryside to see and hear all about the unique flora and wildlife of the area. This evening visit Wilgewandel to experience life as a pioneer in the 1700. Overnight in Oudtshoorn. |
Day 3 After a early start meet Grant of Meerkat Magic who will enlighten you on habitat and social structure of the meerkats. Then travel to the Cango Caves for a tour this world famous site. Travel over the Outeniqua Pass to George for a visit to the Railway Museum before boarding the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe (steam train) for your scenic journey to Knysna. Overnight in Knysna. |  |  |

DAY 6 Return to Plettenberg Bay for a visit to Old Nick Village before proceeding to Sedgefield where you can look around this lovely village situated amongst the lakes. Then travel to Mossel Bay for your overnight stay. |  |  |
Day 7 Visit the Diaz Museum before travelling to Swellendam for a visit to this historical town. Return to Cape Town via Caledon Grabouw, Sir Lowry Pass and Somerset West. |

DAY 1 Depart Cape Town and travel via N2 and Clarens Drive passed Rooiels to Bettys Bay. See the Penguins at Stoney Point and a visit to Harold Porter Botanical Gardens before proceeding to Hermanus (best land based whale watching - season June to November) for overnight stay. |
Day 2 Travel to the quaint village of Stanford and visit a cheese factory and beer brewery and sample their products. You visit a the a cave near Gansbaai where evidence of human habitation 70 000 years ago was found. This afternoon travel via Pringle Bay to Cape Agulhas the southernmost tip of Africa. |
Day 3 Visit the Agulhas Lighthouse (national monument) before travelling to Bredasdorp and a visit to the Shipwreck Museum. From here travel to Swellendam for a visit to this historic town and an optional visit to the Younberry Liqueur Farm before proceeding Mossel Bay and a visit to Diaz Museum Travel to George for overnight stay. Optional: Travel from Bredasdorp via Malgas and the last hand-operated pont in South Africa to Heidelberg and from there to Mossel Bay for a visit to the Diaz Musseum. Then onto George for overnight stay. |
Day 4 Visit the Railway Museum before boarding the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe for your journey to Knysna. This afternoon optional trip to Featherbed Reserve or explore Knysna. Overnight in Knysna. | Day 5 Travel back to George and then via Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn for a visit to the Cango Caves, Ostrich Farm and Cango Wild Life Ranch (crocodile and white tigers) Travel to the Montagu for overnight stay. |
DAY 6 After visiting the Montagu Museum travel to Robertson and wine tasting in the Breede Valley. If available lunch on board the Kolgans River Restaurant whilst on a 2 hour cruise on the Breede River (Sept to May) If time permits a visit to the KWV Brandy Cellar (largest brandy distillery in the world). Return to Cape Town via Du Toitkloof Pass. |
